Tool Returns

This Tool Returns section explains the responsibilities of renters and tool owners regarding the return of tools rented through ToolRentalsOnline.

Return Process

Renters must return the tool:

  • on the agreed return date and time shown in the reservation,

  • to the agreed return location, and

  • in substantially the same condition as received, ordinary wear and tear excepted.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing through the platform’s messaging system, all accessories, attachments, manuals, batteries, chargers, and safety equipment included in the rental must be returned together with the tool.

The tool owner is responsible for confirming receipt of the returned tool through the platform.

Late Returns

If a tool is returned after the scheduled return time, the renter may be charged:

  • additional rental fees for each late period or day, and

  • any reasonable costs incurred by the tool owner resulting from the late return, including lost or cancelled future rentals.

Late return fees may be calculated based on the original daily or hourly rate shown in the listing, unless otherwise stated in the listing terms.

Failure to Return a Tool

If a renter fails to return a tool and does not obtain a written extension through the platform:

  • the rental may be treated as an unreturned or potentially stolen item,

  • the tool owner may report the matter to local law enforcement, and

  • ToolRentalsOnline may suspend or terminate the renter’s account.

The renter remains financially responsible for:

  • the full replacement value of the tool,

  • any related accessories,

  • and any additional documented losses suffered by the tool owner as a result of the non-return.

Damaged or Incomplete Returns

If a tool is returned:

  • damaged beyond normal wear and tear,

  • missing parts or accessories, or

  • in an unsafe or unusable condition,

the renter may be responsible for reasonable repair or replacement costs.

Abandoned or Improper Returns

Tools must not be left unattended, abandoned, or returned to an unauthorized location unless explicitly approved by the tool owner through the platform.

Returning a tool outside the agreed process or location does not relieve the renter of responsibility until the tool owner confirms receipt.

Payment Authorization and Charges

By completing a rental through ToolRentalsOnline, renters authorize ToolRentalsOnline and its payment partners to charge the payment method on file for:

  • late return fees,

  • repair or replacement costs,

  • missing accessories, and

  • other amounts permitted under these terms and the applicable listing.

ToolRentalsOnline does not guarantee recovery of all amounts and does not act as a debt collector.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to return tools on time, repeated late returns, or failure to return tools at all may result in:

  • temporary or permanent suspension of the renter’s account,

  • removal of platform access, and

  • loss of eligibility to use certain features of the website.

Important Legal Notice

ToolRentalsOnline is not a party to the rental agreement between renters and tool owners.
Each rental is a direct agreement between the renter and the tool owner. ToolRentalsOnline provides a technology platform only and does not take possession of tools, manage physical returns, or guarantee the condition, availability, or recovery of any tool.
