Cancellation and Disruptive Event Policy

In general, cancellations and refunds for ToolRentalsOnline.com rentals are governed by the individual tool owner’s cancellation policy. In rare circumstances where large-scale events, emergencies, or legal restrictions prevent or make it unsafe to complete a rental, the Major Disruptive Events Policy (the “Policy”) may apply.

When this Policy applies:

  • Renters may cancel their rental and may be eligible for a refund, credit, or other consideration at the discretion of the tool owner.

  • Tool owners may cancel rentals without penalty or adverse consequences; however, the rental calendar or listing may be temporarily blocked for the affected dates.

This Policy applies to all rentals listed on ToolRentalsOnline.com and covers reservations that are active or scheduled to begin on or after the effective date, unless otherwise communicated by ToolRentalsOnline.com. The Major Disruptive Events Policy is not an insurance policy and does not create any additional liability for ToolRentalsOnline.com. All parties remain responsible for communicating directly and resolving any disputes arising from cancellations.

The Major Disruptive Events Policy

The Major Disruptive Events Policy applies only in limited, extraordinary situations that are beyond the reasonable control of renters or tool owners and that make it illegal, unsafe, or practically impossible to complete a scheduled rental. Covered events may include, for example, officially declared natural disasters (such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, or wildfires), public health emergencies, government-ordered evacuations, travel or access restrictions, mandatory business closures, or other legally binding orders issued by a competent authority that directly affect the location of the rental or the ability to safely complete it. Personal circumstances, scheduling conflicts, changes of plans, equipment availability, weather conditions that do not result in official restrictions, or ordinary operational issues are not covered. ToolRentalsOnline.com determines, in its sole discretion, whether an event qualifies under this policy and makes no guarantees that any particular situation will be covered.

What Happens if a rental reservation get Impacted

If a confirmed rental is directly impacted by a covered Major Disruptive Event, the renter or the tool owner may request to cancel the reservation without penalty under this Policy. When applicable, any refund, credit, or alternative arrangement will be determined by the tool owner in accordance with their stated cancellation terms and applicable law. ToolRentalsOnline.com may, in its sole discretion, assist with communication between the parties but does not guarantee refunds, replacements, or rescheduling and is not responsible for any losses resulting from the cancellation. ToolRentalsOnline.com reserves the right to determine whether a situation qualifies as a covered event and to take reasonable actions to protect the integrity and operation of the platform.

What is not covered

This Policy does not apply to situations that are foreseeable, preventable, or within the reasonable control of renters or tool owners. Events that are not covered include, but are not limited to, personal or family emergencies, changes in travel or work plans, scheduling conflicts, lack of transportation, equipment or operator preference, dissatisfaction with a rental, ordinary weather conditions that do not result in official restrictions, mechanical issues, maintenance problems, overbooking, double-booking, or a failure by either party to properly prepare for the rental. Financial hardship, business losses, or convenience-based cancellations are also not covered. ToolRentalsOnline.com does not consider these circumstances to qualify as Major Disruptive Events under this Policy.

How This Policy Affects Tool Owners

When a rental is impacted by a covered Major Disruptive Event, tool owners may cancel the affected reservation without platform penalties or negative consequences related to the cancellation itself. However, tool owners remain responsible for communicating promptly and clearly with the renter and for complying with their own published cancellation terms and any applicable laws. ToolRentalsOnline.com may temporarily block the listing calendar for the affected dates in order to prevent further bookings during the disruption. This Policy does not relieve tool owners of their general responsibilities, including providing accurate listings, maintaining tools in safe working condition, and resolving any refund or rescheduling matters directly with renters.
