Always Read and Follow Instructions

Before using any tool, carefully review:

  • The manufacturer’s operating instructions

  • Safety warnings and labels on the tool

  • Any guidance provided by the tool owner

Only use the tool for its intended purpose.

Use Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Depending on the tool and task, users should wear appropriate safety equipment, including:

  • Safety glasses or face protection

  • Gloves (when appropriate for the tool)

  • Hearing protection

  • Dust masks or respirators when cutting, sanding, or working with chemicals

  • Protective footwear

Inspect the Tool Before Use

Before starting your project, inspect the tool for:

  • Cracks, broken parts, or loose components

  • Missing guards or safety features

  • Damaged power cords, batteries, or connectors

  • Leaks, unusual smells, or abnormal sounds

If any issue is found, do not use the tool.

Never Bypass Safety Features

Users must never:

  • Remove guards or shields

  • Disable safety switches

  • Override emergency stop mechanisms

  • Modify tools in any way

All safety devices must remain in place and fully functional at all times.

Use Tools Only in Safe Environments

Make sure:

  • Your work area is clean, dry, and well lit

  • The tool is used on a stable surface

  • Children, pets, and bystanders are kept at a safe distance

  • Extension cords and hoses do not create tripping hazards

Do Not Use Tools You Are Not Trained to Operate

If you are unfamiliar with a tool:

  • Ask the tool owner for basic operating guidance

  • Review official instructions or educational resources before use

  • Do not attempt complex or high-risk tasks without proper experience

For certain projects (electrical, structural, or heavy mechanical work), professional assistance is strongly recommended.

Stop Immediately If a Safety Issue Occurs

If a tool:

  • malfunctions,

  • behaves unexpectedly,

  • becomes damaged during use, or

  • appears unsafe at any time,

stop using it immediately and contact the tool owner.
You should also submit a tool concern report through ToolRentalsOnline.
