Responsibilities of Tool Owners

Tool owners must ensure that every tool listed on the platform:

  • is in safe, clean, and working condition at the time of each rental,

  • is properly assembled and complete,

  • includes all required guards, shields, and safety features, and

  • complies with applicable manufacturer instructions and safety standards.

Tools that are damaged, defective, or unsafe must not be listed or rented.

Regular Inspection and Servicing

Tool owners are expected to:

  • inspect tools before and after every rental,

  • perform routine maintenance recommended by the manufacturer,

  • replace worn or damaged parts promptly, and

  • keep tools properly stored to prevent deterioration.

Where applicable, professional servicing should be used for specialized or high-risk equipment.

Cleaning and Hygiene

ool owners must:

  • clean tools before each rental,

  • remove debris, dust, residue, or fluids,

  • sanitize handles and contact surfaces when reasonably possible, and

  • ensure accessories and attachments are also clean and safe to use.

Disclosure of Known Issues

Tool owners must clearly disclose in the listing any known limitations, defects, or special handling requirements related to the tool.

Concealing known defects or unsafe conditions is strictly prohibited.

Reporting Damage or Malfunction

If a tool becomes damaged, unsafe, or malfunctions:

  • it must be immediately removed from availability,

  • it must not be re-listed until repaired and verified as safe, and

  • any renter who may have been affected should be promptly informed.

Records and Documentation

Tool owners are encouraged to keep maintenance records, service receipts, and inspection notes for their tools. These records may be requested in the event of disputes or safety concerns.
